The Snockerers - The Photo Album
(for NaSoAlMo 2006)
by Todd.
I made this album during November 2006 as a participant in NaSoAlMo. Everything sounds like shit in MP3 form (entirely shit, as opposed to mostly shit), I think I f*cked up the last-minute mastering. Is it cheating if I remaster over the weekend? Hrm...
- [m3u for the album] (works in anything but iTunes)

- Crowded Darkroom [mp3]
-
I wrote a five minute song! It's herky-jerky!
- Minor White [mp3]
-
I was thinking the Decemberists when I had the song idea. But it ended up sounding pretty much like a Novemberist. So I threw in a fuax boy band break to make it even worse..
- Mug Shooter [mp3]
-
It's goofy that I decided to preserve the affected vocal style I'd recorded when I had the song idea, and goofier still that I couldn't maintain it through an entire vocal take. And goofiest that it sounds like I say "I scrape my dinner from aluminum tits". Freudian slip? Not that "aluminum tins" makes any more sense. I mean, aluminum and tin are different elements, no?
- Tri-X [mp3]
-
Unquestionably the worst sappy song ever written about the quality of light in Seattle.
- Masterprinter [mp3]
-
The facts that it's only a minute long and has a punchline are the only reasons this song continues to exist.
- Hangover Kids (The Chubbies Theme) [mp3]
-
Almost entirely inside jokes. I'm hoping outsiders will laugh along.
- I Like the Night [mp3]
-
Welcome mat marinade? WTF?
-
- Shots at the Bar [mp3]
-
Conceived, written and recorded on one downer night. But I actually like this one, despite it's near-earnest downerness.

- Masterpiece [mp3]

One of the first songs I worked on this month, and I can't stand listening to it anymore. It's a mess. I just couldn't throw away four minutes of song and couldn't manage to write enough songs to replace it.
- Plainclothes Man (Heatmiser Half-cover) [mp3]
-
Elliott Smith might've been a miserable bastard, but he knew what the hell he was doing with this music stuff.
- The Recruiter [mp3]
-
When I don't edit my random guitar solos, they sound more edited than when I do.
- NaSoAlMo Proud (Summoning the Muses) [mp3]
-
A last-ditch attempt to get another original on the record. I was so burnt out and hungover and it was such a basic song that I had to work the rhymes and record everything in first takes to keep it fresh. Hence the flemmy first few verses. The throat clearing at the intro is on the guitar take, ironically enough.
